2014年冬学期に履修した授業

ここ数カ月すっかり忙しくて、ブログを書く暇もないのですが、このブログは自分自身が後で振り返るための備忘録にもなっているので、ちょっと遅れてもしっかりまとめておきたいと思います。

さて、2014年冬学期に履修した授業です。もう博士候補で研究フェーズなので、授業は履修する必要はないのですが、それでもなるべく授業は履修なり聴講し続けるようにしています。人生の中でここまでまとまって色々と学ぶ時間がとれることは、今後そう多くはないと思うので。

Operations (MGT413)

MBA対象のOperations (生産管理)の授業です。自分自身が所属している研究グループは、Innovation, Technology, and Operationsということで、Operationsの融合分野にあります。僕自身はOperationsからは比較的遠いのですが、指導教員はOperationsの専門家でもあり、このグループの研究セミナーは、Operationsの分野の発表が多いです。加えて、自分が今後教えるであろうビジネスプランの書き方の授業については、Operationsの知識も基盤として必要になります。そんな訳で、Operationsの領域の全体像を把握したくて履修しました。

個別の課題などは時間がなくてやれなかったので、理解が浅い部分や生産管理に必要な計算は十分に慣れていない部分もあるのですが、でもビジネス言語としてのOperationsについては一通りマスターすることができました。教科書もしっかり読み込むことができましたし、ケースも"Benihana"や"Toyota Production System"など、日本にゆかりのあるものが多く、自分の視野を広げることができたと思います。

Operations(生産管理)の博士課程版。本当は聴講しようと思っていたのだけれども、ビジネススクールのfacultyから履修することを強く薦められたので結局履修しました。MBAのOperationsで扱う内容も軽くカバーするけれども、どちらかというと、モデリングの論文を読み、自分自身でモデルを構築するための能力を養う授業でした。

Advanced Pronunciation and Fluency

UC San Diegoで学部の授業を担当するにあたって、自分の英語の発音を改善しないと困るということで、履修したエクステンションの授業。大学本体の授業ばかり受けているとエクステンションの授業のクオリティは低いと勘違いしがちなんですが、この授業はとても良くデザインされてました。確実に発音を良くするコツを学んだと思います。
